Life Lessons

I know, I know. A little heavy for Tuesday morning, but hey, what can I say?

I am 29 and I have been through many, many, many 'drama' moments. I like to blame my mom (whom I love very much) because she is some what of a crisis junkie. She always has to be in the middle of something. She always finds herself in these situations that are, at first appearance, impossible and sometimes frightening. As a kid I was around this all the time and thought it was normal. Following my mother's path in my young adulthood, I found myself in some situations of my own that were less than desireable. Now as an adult, and after meeting my husband, I find that this is not normal. (BTW-What is "normal"?) Life doesn't have to be about the next crisis to fix or drama to live through. Life can be pretty simple if you let it.

Things I have learned in 29 years:

1. Being the oldest sucks. You are a guinea pig in a parenting lab. God Bless

2. No matter how much you love someone, you can't change them. That is a hard lesson to learn.

3. The 'bad boys' are called that for a reason.

4. Don't beat yourself up, use the energy to become the person you want to be.

5. Never stay in the hotel room across from the indoor pool and/or gameroom.

6. Never say, "I would never let my child do that."

7. Day care is not for me. No matter how much you pay them, they still could lose your child.

8. This too shall pass...this is something my mother says. It usually annoys me at the time she says it, but she is usually right.

9. You have that "gut feeling" for a reason. It's called a woman's intuition. Use it!

10. It always rains when the kids are out of school!

'This too will pass'. Bet that can drive you nuts.

Ricarro always says, 'What wounds would ever heal, but by degrees'.

Dammit, but he's right.

Oh, my. You have been growing up these past years! I'd say you've got some pretty important stuff figured out. Good for you.
